Yes, winter is here for the foreseeable... so to keep glowing whatever the weather, we wanted to give you some tips for keeping your hair looking healthy throughout 2022...

Deep condition your locks once a week (from mid to end of hair only), lovingly adding moisture to your hair which the colder weather can dry up. We love products by Kerastase who have a range of masks and leave in conditioner sprays for different hair types.

Always brush hair gently and never when wet, wait until at least 80% dry to comb through (especially important when weather turns colder as hair tends to be more brittle and prone to breakage). Use a kind to hair/gentle hairbrush, we would recommend the Balmain hair extension brush which has softer bristles. Start with the ends and work your way up the root to feel out for any knots and prevent snagging the hair.

Ensure to get regular trims as trimming your hair every four to eight weeks is a good way to maintain hair health and keep your locks looking fresh. Take half an inch off the bottom to reduce the chances of developing dry, split ends, and prevent breakage.

Always lower the water temperature when you shower as hot water can zap moisture from your hair making it brittle and more vulnerable to breaking. Try to wash your hair with lukewarm water and follow with a cool rinse instead. Sounds easy right?

We recommend using less heat and tools in the Winter, maybe save for when you are going out rather than every day! When using tools practice 'safe styling', hair tools are great and will make your extensions look seamless BUT keep the styling tool you are using at 185 degrees or under – ghd has this as their automatic setting already. Always use a heat protector when styling also, this will protect hair and avoid hair overheating.
